The Administrative Data Service (ADS) forms part of the Administrative Data Research Network (ADRN), an innovative new infrastructure that facilitates linkage and analysis of routinely collected government administrative data for research purposes. The ADS acts as the coordinating body for the Network, setting standards and acting as a first point of contact for all stakeholders, and also provides a ‘User Service’, supporting applicants to the Network who wish to undertake research with administrative data.

The ADS is seeking to appoint a Senior User Services Officer to develop and deliver the Data and User Services function of the ADS and provide support for users of the Administrative Data Research Network.

The successful candidate will support applicants to the Network and will be responsible for arranging the provision of data for individual research projects. This will involve negotiating with data providers to secure data provision and acting as an advocate for researchers whilst navigating government data access processes. They will also provide front line support for users of the Administrative Data Research Network on queries relating to data acquisition, linking, access, processing, and reporting.

Among other skills and experience the successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience, in a relevant data using discipline. They will have excellent written and spoken communication and negotiation skills, and experience with sensitive data.
An appreciation of researchers’ data needs and requirements will be essential; experience of supporting data users is also desirable.
